Twenty20 Smash Bash - Friday 12th March - MAJOR FUNDRAISER

The Redbacks VS Stallions Twenty20 Smash Bash at The DOMEney is the major fundraising event for your club this year. The game starts at 6pm and there are players from many different clubs combining their cricket skills in the hope of winning the $5000 Prize Money. The Redbacks are mainly POCC players with some added talents (Glenn Archer). The Stallions are a combined BHRDCA team.

We are expecting a huge crowd and therefore we need a large army of volunteers to help. We are keen to hear from anyone who would be willing to do a shift for a few hours on the night. There are many volunteers already working behind the scenes to get this major event organised. This is our opportunity to showcase the Park Orchards Cricket Club as a professional club. We have secured some very generous sponsors for the event and we are keen to provide them with a fantastic night and hope that they will consider becoming a permanent sponsor.

Generous sponsorship enables the Club to provide up to date facilities and equipment for your children.

Cooking, serving food and drinks will be needing a team who will be rostered on to do shifts so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this great evening. Please email POCC Vice President - Simon Gundry or committee member Ondine Lowther. The more volunteers the less amount of hours will be required for each person.

More details are available on the POCC Website.

ALL WELCOME

Australia Day at POCC

Thank you to all the junior players and dads listed below that played in the inaugural Australia Day junior parents and players 20/20 match. It was a great day for cricket, all had a fair go at the crease batting and all bowled their set amount of overs. The boys enjoyed batting and bowling with their dads. Some dads last played cricket as an U12 player or in their late teens. All agreed we should do it again!

It wasn’t about the final score it was about the day. (That’s right, isn’t guys?)
Thank you to Dale Harbinson, club president, who partnered a junior player. It is great to have his involvement in the junior section of our club. We plan to repeat and expand on this annual event next year.

Junior Presentation - Saturday 20th March

With some teams going for glory in the Finals, we are looking at the Junior Presentation being on Saturday 20th March 4-6pm, at Domeney Club Rooms. Junior team awards will be presented and hopefully a flag or 2 from a premiership team might be there!

Charity Fundraiser - this Sunday 28th Feb

Maddison Bartlett is a survivor from the tragic Black Saturday Bushfires. Warrandyte and Eltham Football Clubs are holding a fundraising event for the brave 13 year old this Sunday 28th February at Central Park, Eltham. AFL celebrity players will be there and the clubs are asking for volunteers to help them run the event. Please contact Michael Tout (POPS dad and Sharks Coach) on 0433 934 130. If you can, please go along and support this charity event.

Please see the POCC website for more information.

2010 Cricket - end of Season

For many teams this weekend will conclude their cricket season. The POCC Junior Committee hope you have enjoyed the season and improved your cricket skills. Please ensure you thank the coaches and their support helpers.

For some teams, they will begin their finals campaign and we wish them well as they play off for a place in the Grand Final.

Dates and venues for the finals will be posted in the website. Please come along and support our junior teams if you can.

To begin preparations for Season 2010-11 we are asking parents to let the coach know if they think their child will play on next summer. This will assist us in forward planning numbers, grades and days of play.
